Request for Member participation in Committees

As many of you know, HANYC’s strategic plan established in 2015 called for member participation in committees. While a request went out last August the full list of Committees has since been expanded and we request (for the last time) expressions of interest from all Members in any of the Committees named.

The Committees are:

Nominating Committee (already constituted)

Audit Committee: The committee will assist the board with oversight of the quality and integrity of the accounting and auditing practices of the Association. The committee will be established per the By-laws of HANYC and will be composed of at least two members who will also be members of the board. Each of these members will be independent and from different organizations. They will not be members of the Finance Committee. If the Chairman is not a member of the committee, s/he may attend committee meetings and vote. The members of the committee will be selected by a majority vote of the officers including the Chairman.

Finance Committee: The Finance Committee will be responsible for monitoring and communicating to the board overall financial health of HANYC. Current Chair: Steve Batta.

Strategic Committee: List the 2015 Strategic Plan’s goals and objectives and review any changes needed. Achievements in 2016 and 1st half of 2017 with expectations for 2nd half. Layout road map including budget for attaining above. Assess current strategic threats and challenges for HANYC and the industry and compare with above.

Women in Lodging: Committee to be made up of at least two members, preferably from the Board of HANYC. Committee Chair: Phoebe Knowles. Laydown objectives, strategies and tactics to advance the goals of the committee.

Foundation Committee: Determine goals, objectives and scope of the foundation.

Think Tank: Objective: Future of the industry. Develop a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Tactics) of the industry for the next 20 years.

Owners Council: (already constituted)

Please note that the Nominating Committee and the Owners Council are the only two committees that have already been constituted.
