Change to Daylight Saving Time and the Effect on Sale of Alcoholic Beverages

Under New York State Law, Daylight Saving Time will be in effect in New York at 2:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 12, 2017.

The legal hours for the sales of alcoholic beverages will be determined under Daylight Saving Time.

Thus, for the purpose of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, the time will be moved forward one hour at 2:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 12, 2017.

In as much as the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law prohibits the sale of liquor for consumption on the premises between 4:00 A.M. and 12:00 noon on Sunday, the change in time will result in a loss of one hour during which liquor may be sold on that date.

Where any Local Alcohol Beverage Control Board has adopted any rule further restricting the hours of sale for alcoholic beverages, such restricted hours shall be the hours during which the sale of alcoholic beverages at retail for on premises consumption shall be permitted within the jurisdiction of such Board.

Best Regards
